Metallic Epoxy Floor Coatings

A stunning, one-of-a-kind finish that mimics liquid marble. Perfect for basements, showrooms, and any space that demands a genuine wow factor.

The “Wow” Factor Floor

Metallic epoxy is unlike any other flooring system. It uses translucent resins filled with pearlescent metallic pigments that float and twist as they cure — creating a deep, three-dimensional finish that resembles flowing water, lava, or liquid marble. No two floors are ever alike.

At Gaetano Cement Contractors, we treat metallic epoxy as an art form. The unique movement of the pigments is shaped by our manipulation techniques: squeegees, rollers, heat guns, and proprietary solvent work. The result is a bespoke masterpiece engineered for your specific space.

Unlimited Customization

Because we mix pigments on-site, color combinations are essentially limitless. A single solid color creates a sleek, modern effect. Blending two or three colors produces dramatic swirls, depth, and movement. We work with you to select a palette that complements your architecture before a drop of epoxy hits the floor.

The Installation Process

Metallic floors demand a pristine canvas. We diamond grind the floor smooth, patch every crack and spall, and apply each layer in a controlled sequence.

Diamond Grinding

We open the concrete pores to a CSP 2–3 profile using diamond tooling. This is the most critical step — skip it and the epoxy will peel within months.

Solid-Color Primer

A solid base coat (often deep black or bright white) is applied to block moisture vapor and create a high-contrast background that makes the metallic pigments appear to float above the floor.

Metallic Pour & Manipulation

We pour the metallic resin and work it with squeegees, rollers, and carefully applied solvents to create your chosen pattern. This is where the floor gets its unique character — no two pours are identical.

UV-Stable Topcoat

Once the artistic layer is fully cured, we seal it with a high-gloss, UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. This protects the finish against scratches, dulling, and yellowing — preserving the visual depth for years.

Good to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

Is metallic epoxy slippery?

By nature, the glass-smooth finish can be slippery when wet. For bathrooms, basements with plumbing, or any area that may get wet, we add a fine non-slip aggregate into the clear topcoat. It provides reliable traction without affecting the visual depth of the metallic layer below.

Is it durable enough for a garage?

The epoxy itself has excellent compressive strength, but the high-gloss topcoat will show scratches from road debris, tire marks, and dragged tools over time. For working garages, we recommend our Full Flake System instead — it hides wear and is far more forgiving. Metallic is best reserved for basements, lobbies, showrooms, and display spaces.

Can I control the exact pattern?

We can control the color palette, the dominant flow direction, and the general visual intensity — and we work with you upfront to align on expectations. However, the resin moves organically as it self-levels. This inherent unpredictability is exactly what gives metallic epoxy its natural, non-repeating beauty. Reference photos from similar jobs help set expectations well before we pour.

How long does installation take?

Most residential metallic epoxy projects take 2–3 days from grinding to final topcoat. You can walk on the floor 24 hours after the final coat, and it reaches full hardness in 5–7 days. We recommend keeping vehicles off it for the full week.
