Gravel Base & Forming
We install a fresh compacted gravel sub-base for drainage, then set forms precisely — establishing the correct cross-slope for water runoff and the proper elevation for ADA compliance or matching adjacent grades.
Concrete Pour & Screeding
We pour the 4,000+ PSI exterior mix, screed it flat, and bull-float the surface to consolidate the concrete and eliminate voids. Apron connections are poured to 6" thickness for added durability at transition points.
Edging, Broom Finish & Control Joints
We edge all sides for a clean, professional look, apply a non-slip broom finish for year-round traction, and saw-cut control joints every 4–5 feet — directing any minor shrinkage cracking exactly where we intend it, not where it wants to go.
Cure, Seal & Cleanup
A curing compound is applied to ensure optimal concrete strength. Forms are removed, edges are backfilled cleanly, and the site is left in better shape than we found it. You can walk on the surface within 24–48 hours.

Do I need a permit to replace my sidewalk?
For public sidewalks adjacent to the street, yes — most Northeast Ohio municipalities require a permit and municipal inspection before the work begins. We handle the permitting process for you and ensure the work passes inspection on the first visit. Private garden and backyard walkways on your property typically do not require a permit.
Can you make the walkway curved instead of straight?
Absolutely. We use flexible forming systems specifically designed for curved concrete work. Smooth, flowing curves look dramatically more elegant than sharp corners and can be designed to wrap around landscaping, garden beds, or follow the natural contour of your yard. Public city sidewalks are typically required to be straight by municipal code, but private paths have no such restriction.
How do you stop tree roots from lifting the new sidewalk again?
We assess the specific root situation during excavation and choose the right approach: cutting problem surface roots back, installing physical root barriers to redirect future growth, or adjusting the walkway grade to bridge safely over the root zone without damaging the tree. Simply patching concrete over a growing root is not something we do — it guarantees the same failure within a few years.
Can you add steps or a landing at my front door?
Yes — we frequently integrate steps, landings, and entry platforms into walkway projects. Doing it all at once is also the most cost-effective approach, since the crew, forms, and concrete delivery are already there. We can also pour riser steps at deck or porch entries as part of the same project.
